How to make a garden hose hanger cover
By /
Turn your wall-mounted garden hose hanger into a cool outdoor feature with this custom cover. To make the hose hider, simply cut a circle out of marine grade plywood, give it a stripy paint job and attach it to the hanger using high-strength glue.
Tip: Always wear the appropriate safety equipment (safety glasses, gloves, ear muffs and a mask, for example) and always follow the instructions for the product or equipment.
On the plywood, measure 260mm in from the side and base to tap in a nail; leave to protrude. Hold the inside corner of a framing square against the nail, with a pencil at 250mm, while rotating the end to mark a circle. Drill a starter hole with an 8mm bit outside the mark. Move the plywood to cut over the side of the bench with a jigsaw.
Apply adhesive to the small packer; press onto the front of the hanger, base curves flush. Repeat to press on the large packer; clamp and leave to cure. With the cover face down, centre the hanger assembly face down, 100mm from the top. Apply adhesive, align the hanger with the stripes; leave to cure. Secure the hanger to the wall and install the hose.
Asbestos, lead-based paints and copper chromium arsenic (CCA) treated timber are health hazards you need to look out for when renovating older homes. These substances can easily be disturbed when renovating and exposure to them can cause a range of life-threatening diseases and conditions including cancer. For information on the dangers of asbestos, lead-based paint and CCA treated timber and tips for dealing with these materials contact your local council's Environmental Health Officer or visit our Health & Safety page.
