/One of the keys to an amazing garden is having the right tools. If it’s quick and easy to whip out the hose and give the garden a spritz, we’re more likely to do so. And this is where Holman - the irrigation experts – comes in. With a Holman retractable hose reel, you’ll never have to grapple with a messy, tangled hose again.
Holman retractable hoses are a gardener’s best friend. The solid casing protects the hose from the harsh Australian sun, it keeps the hose tidily stored out of the way and it prevents twisting and kinking. Plus, it’s easy to install yourself! Just choose the hose you need (available in 10m, 20m and 30m lengths, suitable for any garden size) and follow these simple steps. (Note – the instructions provided are for a masonry wall.)
Pick your spot, making sure the tap-to-reel hose will reach the tap.
Using the bracket as a guide, mark the four drill holes with a pencil and drill the holes with the correct drill bit size as indicated in the instructions.
Insert the wall plugs into the holes, tapping them in with a hammer. Screw the bracket into the wall with the four bolts and tighten with a spanner until secure.
Remove the mounting tube from the hose reel. Place the hose reel on the bracket, replace the mounting tube and insert the securing pin to lock it into place. Connect the tap-to-reel hose to the garden tap.
And that’s it! To use the hose, pull it out and tug gently to lock it into place. To retract it, give it another tug and let the hose retract back into the reel housing.

Asbestos, lead-based paints and copper chromium arsenic (CCA) treated timber are health hazards you need to look out for when renovating older homes. These substances can easily be disturbed when renovating and exposure to them can cause a range of life-threatening diseases and conditions including cancer. For information on the dangers of asbestos, lead-based paint and CCA treated timber and tips for dealing with these materials contact your local council's Environmental Health Officer or visit our Health & Safety page.
