How to choose an air conditioner

When selecting an air conditioner for your home, the size and type of room it is going to be installed in should be considered. To best gauge the size of the unit you require, refer to the supplier brochures available in the aisle or at the Special Orders desk.

What is a standard installation?

Standard installation includes back-to-back installs with the price determined by the size of the unit and whether the installation is taking place on a single or double storey home. Installation pricing is representative of a standard installation for a split system unit. Installations that do not meet these conditions will be classified as a non-standard installation and additional charges may be applicable.

Standard single storey back-to-back split system installation

Standard back-to-back installation is a split system with two main components – a wall mounted indoor unit with an outdoor unit positioned directly below on a single storey dwelling.

What's Included:

  • Compliance and certification (mandatory in VIC & ACT)
  • PVC ducting to conceal the pipe work and electrical connections
  • Up to 20 metres of internal roof cable run (switchboard must be checked to have sufficient electrical capacity and room for another circuit)
  • Weatherproof safety isolation switch mounted near outdoor unit
  • Up to three metres of pipework between the head unit and the outdoor compressor unit
  • Installation of RCD where necessary

Standard double storey split system installation

A double storey installation is a split system with two main components – a wall mounted indoor unit that is mounted on the second storey of a dwelling and an outdoor unit mounted outside at ground level directly below the indoor unit. If mounting outside unit onto a wall, brackets are an additional cost.

What's Included:

  • Compliance and certification (mandatory in VIC & ACT)
  • Up to five metres of PVC ducting to conceal pipe work and electrical connections
  • Up to 20 metres of internal roof cable run (switchboard must be checked to have sufficient electrical capacity and room for another circuit)
  • Weatherproof safety isolation switch mounted near outdoor unit
  • Up to five metres of pipe work between the head unit and the outdoor compressor unit

This installation offer is currently available for air conditioners purchased from Bunnings. Once you have purchased your air conditioner from our wide range, you can organise your installation at the Special Orders Desk.

Measure & quote

If your installation is not considered standard, or if you are unsure of the installation type you require, we can organise a Measure & Quote for you.

 

What's included:

  • A recommendation of a suitable air conditioner and its location
  • An inspection to ensure your switchboard is AS3000 compliant
  • A complete quote including installation cost and requirements

The quote will include all pricing and charges needed to install a new, replacement or non-standard air conditioner in your home.

Measure & Quote

Bunnings Measure & Quote service can be completed on any residential dwelling including apartments. 

The quote will include all pricing and charges based on Bunnings installation pricing structure needed to install a new, replacement or non-standard air conditioner in your home.

You will be provided with a quote based on the current Bunnings installation pricing structure. This will exclude the price of a product.

Your Bunnings store will contact you to discuss payment options when your quote is ready. Once payment is made, a licensed installer will contact you to organise an installation date.

Yes, installation is provided as an additional service for air conditioners purchased from our wide range.

You can speak to any team member at the Special Orders desk or your electrical expert.

After you have purchased your air conditioner and installation, you can arrange a time that is convenient for both you and the service agent. 

We can arrange installation of any split system air conditioner purchased from a Bunnings location.

No. The customer is required to have the split system air conditioner on site prior to the commencement of the install. As an additional service The Special Orders desk can assist you with delivery of your purchased unit.

Travel up to 35km from the store booking your installation is included. If the installer is required to travel further than 35km from the booking store there will be an additional charge per excess KM travelled.

This is when the outside compressor unit and internal head unit are installed directly opposite each other. This is classed as a standard installation.

In these circumstances additional pipe will be required. You will need to discuss this with the Special Orders desk at the time of booking your installation. Additional pipe work is not included in a standard installation and there may be additional charges.

Yes. Please discuss this with the Special Orders desk at the time of booking your installation. Non back to back installations are considered non-standard and additional charges may apply.

Yes. The condensate pump is used to pump the condensation up and through the pipe work in the roof to wherever the outdoor unit is located.

An internal wall is any wall inside the home that does not back onto the outside the house.

If your product has not been installed, you can request a refund at your local Bunnings Store.
You will receive your refund in the same method as payment was made.
Cash refunds will be provided instantly in-store, while credit card refunds will depend on your financial institution.
