If you love nothing more than watching sport with a few mates in your man cave, lounge room or home cinema, why not give your space a sporting theme. “Throw some synthetic turf over your table or benchtop and you've got an instant bar mat,” explains Katrina. “And because it's great at catching crumbs, you can simply shake it off or hose it down after the game.” You could even roll it up and stick in the shed afterwards if you want it out of the way.
A lush strip of grass can look great around your pool, only problem is, real grass will get waterlogged and turn to mud in no time. This not only looks terrible, it can be a slippery safety hazard. No such problem for artificial grass though. Even a thin strip around the perimeter of the pool can look fantastic and offer much better grip underfoot. “If you've got a swing set, trampoline or cubby house in your backyard, it's probably taken a toll on the look of your lawn,” according to Katrina. And let's be honest, patchy looking grass can be a bit of an eyesore. Synthetic grass is much more durable and will withstand whatever the kids can throw at it. You could even use it as an easy-to-clean play mat or rug in the kids rumpus room.
With some synthetic turf and a little bit of D.I.Y., keen golfers can create an impressive putting green in their very own backyard. You could even roll it out in the garage or under the carport. Weather conditions aren't a problem when your low-maintenance green can be easily rolled up and packed away.
Take your 'arty-ficial' grass to unexpected places by getting creative with your material. “We've seen some amazing uses for synthetic turf over the years,” explains Katrina. “From quirky placemats to grassy street numbers, even outdoor rugs and seat covers.” You can find some great inspiration out there so why not let your imagination run wild!
If your inner-city apartment could do with a splash of green, synthetic turf is the answer. Because it can be cut to size, it's perfect for small spaces. It's also soft underfoot, low-maintenance and easy to clean. With a few perfectly placed pot plants or flower boxes, you can add a refreshing burst of nature to the concrete jungle.
