Overview

Turn a plain pot into a custom creation with this easy DIY make.

Steps

1Gather your tools and materials

Below are all of the tools and materials you'll need to complete this project.

2Heat up the glue gun

Allow the glue gun to heat up. Lay out pot and rope end, ready to begin gluing at the base of the pot.

3Apply glue at the base of the pot

Wearing gloves, apply a line of hot glue around the base of the pot and carefully roll the rope over the glue. Continue working your way up the pot with glue and rope until the entire pot is covered. Once at the top, cut the rope and secure the end with glue. Leave to set.

4Plant up your pot

Once completely dry, pull away any dried glue on the outside of the rope. Then plant up the pot with your choice of plants!
Health & Safety

Asbestos, lead-based paints and copper chromium arsenic (CCA) treated timber are health hazards you need to look out for when renovating older homes. These substances can easily be disturbed when renovating and exposure to them can cause a range of life-threatening diseases and conditions including cancer. For information on the dangers of asbestos, lead-based paint and CCA treated timber and tips for dealing with these materials contact your local council's Environmental Health Officer or visit our Health & Safety page.

When following our advice in our D.I.Y. videos, make sure you use all equipment, including PPE, safely by following the manufacturer’s instructions.
