“It’s so good,” said Marty Fox about the outdoor fireplace. “It anchors the space.”
A spectacular freestanding fireplace and a 25-year-old tree helped to create an entertainers haven for Robby and Mat.
Robby and Mat created an entertainers backyard with all the trimmings – from varied seating areas to a spectacular outdoor fireplace and a pool cabana. Working with landscaper Paal Grant, the boys created an impressive space that impressed all four judges.
A curved path led to a separate seated lounge area (with a capacity for about 10 people), which included an incredible freestanding fireplace; while an outdoor sculpture by a local artist wowed the judges, who called the space “magical”.
There were two pools – a large and small – plus a pool cabana and pickleball court, which the boys won through a challenge earlier in the series.
One of the showstoppers of the backyard was a huge 25-year-old bottle tree, which the boys complemented by adding additional seating for a quiet retreat space. “How good is having a simple tree instead of a structure?” asked judge Dave Franklin.
The well-equipped cabana included a sauna, seating area and powder room.
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and fun for all ages. Because a pickleball court is about the same size as a badminton court (13.41m x 6.1m), it is almost half the size of a tennis court (23.77m x 10.97m), which means that it takes up less space, but still is a great family-friendly activity.
Robby and Mat used ‘Ace of Spades’ by British Paints.
