orange van at the beach with a picnic set set up

Overview

Enjoy a day at the beach! With a few comfy touches, you can make any spot by the sea the perfect place to spend time.

Steps

1Rugs

Start by laying down a rug at your chosen spot and getting out your Esky and beach equipment. A rattan plant stand is a clever way to keep everything tidy and organised.

2Cushions and rattan chair

Place cushions around your rug to create comfortable spaces to sit and relax. A rattan chair is a great option for those not wanting to sit on the ground. (Cushions and blankets will make it cosy and comfortable.)

A ceramic stool is a great option for balancing food and drinks.

3Drinks trolley

Every beach outing needs a bar cart, stocked with snacks, water and sodas. Bar carts are easy to move around, and they’ll also keep (most of) the sand off any snacks.

Place drinks and glasses on the top shelf, and add any food on the lower levels, along with utensils and secured napkins.

4Torches

Finish off the space with some citronella bamboo torches to keep mosquitoes away.

Health & Safety

Asbestos, lead-based paints and copper chromium arsenic (CCA) treated timber are health hazards you need to look out for when renovating older homes. These substances can easily be disturbed when renovating and exposure to them can cause a range of life-threatening diseases and conditions including cancer. For information on the dangers of asbestos, lead-based paint and CCA treated timber and tips for dealing with these materials contact your local council's Environmental Health Officer or visit our Health & Safety page.

When following our advice in our D.I.Y. videos, make sure you use all equipment, including PPE, safely by following the manufacturer’s instructions. Check that the equipment is suitable for the task and that PPE fits properly. If you are unsure, hire an expert to do the job or talk to a Bunnings Team Member.
