By  /

Handmade star ornaments crafted from wooden pegs hanging on a Christmas tree with fairy lights.

Overview

Turn timber pegs into festive wooden star decorations. This simple Christmas craft is a fun way to add a handmade touch to your home.

Tip: Always wear the appropriate safety equipment (safety glasses, gloves, ear muffs and a mask, for example) and always follow the instructions for the product or equipment.

Steps

  1. 1

    Cut the circle and twine

Cut a 20mm diameter circle from cardboard and a 40cm length of jute twine with scissors.
  2. 2

    Arrange and glue the pegs

Lay peg halves on a flat surface and arrange in a star shape to your liking. Put a large dab of hot glue in the centre and along one peg half.

  3. 3

    Attach the twine and circle

Working quickly, fold jute in half and position along peg with the ends in the centre of the star shape, place circle on top and press firmly to join; let set.

    Keep in mind...

    • For painting and sanding, always wear safety equipment (eye protection and mask) and ensure the room is well ventilated. Keep all paint and chemicals out of reach of children and pets.
    • When using a hot-glue gun, wear eye protection and a mask, work in a well-ventilated area, then place the appliance on its stand after use and allow it to cool down before storage. Do not leave unattended while in use or directly after use.
