You’re going to want to make the most of the app to boost how much you’re saving on running costs. That’s because your Tesla Wall Connector allows you to ‘set and forget’ and fully charge your car when energy prices are lower – whether that’s in the off-peak period overnight or during the day if you have solar.
The Wi-Fi has you covered
Its smart Wi-Fi connectivity is going to save you even more time, allowing you to schedule charging and monitor energy use because you don’t have to manually update the firmware. As new features and functions become available, your Tesla Wall Connector will automatically update over Wi-Fi. As well as local site routers, it can communicate via Wi-Fi with vehicles, mobile phones, any other Tesla Wall Connectors and other connected Tesla smart products.
When having your Wall Connector installed, avoid barriers to reception – you don’t want the signal to be blocked by solid concrete, metal or masonry. Check your mobile can connect to Wi-Fi from your chosen location – if the signal is good, you’re all set.
Flexibility – inside or out
Tesla Wall Connector looks as streamlined as the car itself, so it doesn’t need to be kept out of sight. The lightweight design has another big plus – this EV home charger can be mounted in the best spot to suit any home. Want the option of charging undercover? Have it mounted indoors in a built-in garage. Prefer to go alfresco? An outdoor mount makes it easy to charge and go.
The Wall Connector also adapts to a range of electrical systems, so you’re bound to have lots of options. The box itself is a similar size to a shoebox, and the 7.3m long cable allows plenty of room for mounting higher, up to the maximum height of 1.52m. For convenient access, Tesla recommends installing at about 1.15m. And for the best charging performance, make sure it won’t be exposed to temperatures of 50 degrees or above.
It’s a family affair
If you have two or more Tesla cars, several Wall Connectors can share power to meet household charging needs. In fact, up to six Tesla Wall Connectors can work together at the same location to share the power evenly between vehicles, without needing any electrical upgrades. Because they do this wirelessly, it’s best to aim for a clear line of sight between your wall connectors to streamline power sharing. Got another EV in the mix?
