How to install kitchen pull-out baskets

Overview

Maximise the storage in your kitchen cupboards by installing pullout baskets. We'll teach you how to screw the runners into place and mount your baskets on top. You'll also see the tools you will need to get the job done.

Steps

1Pre-drill screw holes for the pull-out basket runners

Make sure you have all the components ready to go. Then mark out and pre-drill two screw holes on each side panel of the cabinet as specified in the instructions. If your cabinet has hinges, make sure you choose a position where the runners won't get blocked.

2Attach the runners for the pull-out baskets

Line the runners up with the pre-drilled holes and fix them in place. Once you've driven the first four screws in, drill pilot holes and screw in another six on each side. For greater strength, space the screws evenly on both runners and mirror the positions on both sides.

3Install the pull-out basket in the runners

Put the wire basket on the metal supports of the runners. Line the basket up with the supports, making sure it's between the 2nd and 3rd wires at the front and back. To finish the job, place the basket clips over the metal supports and screw them into place with a Phillips head screwdriver.
