A linen closet with wire baskets trolleys

Overview

Learn how to install a shelving unit to maximise the storage space in your linen closet. Just choose how many shelves and basket units you need and you can create a solution that perfectly suits your space.

Steps

1Locate the stud and screw in brackets

Locate the stud in your wall with a stud finder. Mark out where the bracket screws will go by measuring a line down the wall with your spirit level.

2Screw in brackets

Then starting from the top down, screw in your vertical bracket. Use the spirit level to make sure the bracket is straight before you screw the last screws in. Repeat the same process for the horizontal bracket, marking the wall and using a spirit level to ensure the bracket is level.

3Assemble the basket unit

Use a rubber mallet to tap the wheel bracket into each leg. Make sure that each bracket faces inwards. Then attach the cross pieces to the bracket. Connect both sides together to create the framework. Attach the wheels by putting their thread through the hole and attaching a nut.

4Secure the top and insert drawers

Now loosely screw in two brackets to the top. Then flip the board and attach the board to the framework by fastening all four brackets. Now you can insert the drawers to finish off the basket unit.

5Install shelves at your preferred heights

Use the basket unit to work out your preferred height of the lower shelf. Then connect the shelf brackets to the upright wall bracket. Next install the top shelf brackets, and work down the wall to evenly space out each shelf level. Place the shelf on top of each set of brackets and secure them by screwing from underneath.

6Position baskets

Installing the shelves hard up against one side of the walls will enable you to put a mop or broom on the other side. The basket trolleys are on wheels which means they are fully mobile to be positioned where every you want.
