Cockroaches, ants, flies and mosquitoes are always unwelcome guests in the home. To banish unwanted bugs, the Yates® Home Pest range has four new solutions to get the job done.
Yates® Home Pest Cockroach Killer Gel Bait kills American, German and other varieties of cockroach. Simply set gel spots in places cockroaches like to hang out: under appliances and around sinks and pipes. The special formula attracts roaches to the bait, which they ingest, and take back to their nests to infect others.
Make sure gel spots are placed in areas that can’t be accessed by kids and pets.
Ants can't resist the Yates® Home Pest Ant & Nest Killer Gel Bait. It is especially designed to attract worker ants, who deliver it back to the colony and queen, thereby wiping out the nest.
Place baits near nest entrances, or along ant trails, cracks and crevices and areas where ants seem most active.
Yates® Home Pest Long Term Control Barrier Spray stops pests before they make it through the door. The microcapsule technology kills a wide range of pests (like cockroaches, ants, fleas, mosquitoes, silverfish and spiders) on contact for up to 12 months indoors, and for up to three months outside. It even creates a barrier against mosquitoes on plant foliage for up to 14 weeks.
If you've noticed ants and roaches running rampant outside, Yates® Home Pest Ant & Cockroach Destroyer Granule Bait can help. Place the granules where you've spotted the insects, often near pavers, rubbish bins, drains, grass heaps and other places that provide them with a safe haven.
This product can also be used indoors in cracks, crevices and voids, and covers up to 100m2. Once roaches and ants have ingested the granules, they take the poison back to their nests.
Once unwelcome visitors have been banished from your home, there are ways to keep them out. Roaches, ants and flies are attracted to food – open bags in the pantry and crumbs left on the bench will lure them back. Keep food and rubbish covered or sealed.
Stacks of cardboard, magazines and newspapers, and humid areas, are breeding grounds for cockroaches. Seal any cracks they can sneak through and watch out for moisture, like leaking pipes or clogged drains.
Note: Some products are not available at all Bunnings stores, but may be ordered. Always read product labels and carefully follow manufacturer’s safety instructions for use and storage.
Now that you know what solutions are available, you can be better prepared to deal with pests when they turn up. Shop the new Home Pest range from Yates.
Asbestos, lead-based paints and copper chromium arsenic (CCA) treated timber are health hazards you need to look out for when renovating older homes. These substances can easily be disturbed when renovating and exposure to them can cause a range of life-threatening diseases and conditions including cancer. For information on the dangers of asbestos, lead-based paint and CCA treated timber and tips for dealing with these materials contact your local council's Environmental Health Officer or visit our Health & Safety page.
When following our advice in our D.I.Y. videos, make sure you use all equipment, including PPE, safely by following the manufacturer’s instructions. Check that the equipment is suitable for the task and that PPE fits properly. If you are unsure, hire an expert to do the job or talk to a Bunnings Team Member.
