/Recoating your exterior timber – be that the deck, outdoor furniture, fences or the front door – is an essential but not very exciting task. So when you do it, you want the job to be quick, straightforward and to deliver fantastic, long-lasting results. That’s exactly what you get when you pick up a can of Sikkens Cetol® BLX-Pro.
Sikkens’ excellent oil-based products, with their authentic-looking wood tones, have long been the professionals’ go-to for a first-class, durable timber coating. The water-based BLX-Pro range gives you the same natural-looking effect, but with easier application, faster recoat and drying times, and simpler clean-up. It’s as perfect for weekend D.I.Y.-ers as it is for tradies needing a speedy, high-quality result.
For a top-grade finish, Sikkens recommends three coats – BLX-Pro is recoatable in just two hours, letting you power through the whole job in a day. Use BLX-Pro to refresh just about any exterior timber surface, or to coat new, bare timber. It delivers a translucent, satin finish that reveals rather than conceals the grain, enhancing its natural beauty.
There is already a comprehensive selection of BLX-Pro colours, from Light Oak and Pine to deeper tones such as Dark Oak, Walnut and Teak. Now, with three new shades joining the range, you can have virtually any look you want. BLX-Pro in the colour Natural has a very light pigment for an on-trend, beautifully natural finish. At the other end of the colour spectrum, you’ll find Mahogany, in all its richness and warmth, and dramatic Ebony, perfect for bringing a chic, contemporary note to your outdoor zones. With Sikkens’ Cetol® BLX-Pro range, sprucing up your outdoor surfaces couldn’t be easier.
Make sure you wear the appropriate safety gear when painting timber. Browse the selection of Sikkens products available at Bunnings Warehouse.

Asbestos, lead-based paints and copper chromium arsenic (CCA) treated timber are health hazards you need to look out for when renovating older homes. These substances can easily be disturbed when renovating and exposure to them can cause a range of life-threatening diseases and conditions including cancer. For information on the dangers of asbestos, lead-based paint and CCA treated timber and tips for dealing with these materials contact your local council's Environmental Health Officer or visit our Health & Safety page.
When following our advice in our D.I.Y. videos, make sure you use all equipment, including PPE, safely by following the manufacturer’s instructions. Check that the equipment is suitable for the task and that PPE fits properly. If you are unsure, hire an expert to do the job or talk to a Bunnings Team Member.
