Smooth moves

A little preparation and products from Wrap & Move will make your next move a streamlined and sustainable success.

1. Bedrooms

The rule to follow is “least used, packed first”. Start with the guest bedrooms, protecting mattresses from the elements with Wrap & Move Mattress Protectors, available from single to king sizes. Next, start packing up the main bedroom. You can shift your whole wardrobe with a Wrap & Move 257L Heavy Duty Porta Robe Moving Carton, which includes a handy hanging rail and an easy access closing door to protect clothing from dust and dirt. Leave the kids’ bedrooms until last. Stuffed toys, bedding, pillows and more can all fit into Wrap & Move 105L Moving Bags.

2. Landing

Landing areas can often be a treasure trove of valuable mementos (like knick-knacks and artwork) and awkwardly-shaped furniture, like stands and coat hangers. This is an area that needs a packing plan. Wrap & Move Picture Frame Bags  are ideal for protecting mirrors, pictures and other slim items, while Wrap & Move 38L Light Duty Moving Cartons are perfect for medium-weight items. Use a Wrap & Move Honeycomb and Tissue Paper Wrap Kit to cushion fragile items.

3. Office/study

Start sorting office and study areas early to avoid carting a lot of unnecessary paperwork to your new home. Store documents, folders, stationery and other small items in Wrap & Move Archive Cartons; the lids even have a handy labelling area. Protect your desk and shelving units (and walls) with Wrap & Move Corner Protectors. Use the Wrap & Move Mini Shrink Wrap (which is easily applied with a dispenser) to secure pen holders and stationery trays. It can even help keep desk drawers closed.

4. Kitchen

The heart of the home is also the epicentre of all things breakable! The Wrap & Move Glass Divider Insert ensures your wine glasses stay safe in transit, while the Wrap & Move Plate Packing Kit has several sizes of foam plate pouches to keep them protected. Wrap & Move Foam Socks slide snugly over glassware and wine and olive oil bottles and glassware. Wrap & Move 52L Light Duty Rectangle Moving Cartons are great for extra crockery, appliances and pots and pans.

5. Living and dining rooms

Large living and dining room furniture items need protection, but they can be cumbersome. The Wrap & Move Dining Chair Protector slips seamlessly over chairs. Don’t stress about your television – the Wrap & Move 60 inch TV Carton with twin cushion flutes provides ideal protection, along with enough space for power cords, cables and remotes. (It’s handy to keep these packed with the television so they don’t go missing.) Large rugs and mats can simply be rolled up and sealed in a Wrap & Move Rug Storage Bag.

6. Garage

This is likely to be the loading zone on moving day, so stash Wrap & Move Premium Moving Blankets in the garage to protect your whitegoods and other furniture items. Large, bulky items (garden equipment, paint cans, sports gear, etc.) require sturdy boxes. Wrap & Move 150L Heavy Duty Moving Cartons should be your go-to here.

7. Whole house

Preparation is the key to success. To help with organisation, try colour-coding rooms. The Wrap & Move Set of Four Coloured Room Tapes makes a massive difference when it comes to unpacking. Finally, have Wrap & Move 50 Pack Fragile Labels on hand to make it  clear which precious items need extra care.

Waste not

Moving house can be a plastic-heavy exercise, but it doesn’t have to be. With Wrap & Move’s range of environmentally-friendly products, all your precious possessions can be transported without a sea of plastic. Here are a few alternatives to check out:

Instead of bubble wrap, try …

Wrap & Move Honeycomb Paper Wrap. It’s easy to tear and the interlocking design doesn’t require tape. The Wrap & Move Honeycomb and Tissue Paper Wrap Kit is ideal for wrapping fragile goods before shipping, ideal for homes or businesses. The tissue is gentle on surfaces, the honeycomb provides padding, and the easy-to-use dispenser makes it so simple to wrap and go.

Instead of plastic pouches for cushioning, try …

Wrap & Move Kraft Paper Roll or Wrap & Move Butchers Paper. This protective packaging is ideal for transporting glasses and bottles, avoiding scratches and smashes. Wrap & Move Brown Tissue Paper is also excellent for wrapping. It’s acid-free for long-term storage, and can be scrunched up to fill excess space, keeping items safely cushioned. (Family tip: All of these papers can be reused as drawing material for the kids.)

Instead of plastic tape, try …

Wrap & Move Kraft Paper Packing Tape. This is a more environmentally-friendly alternative to plastic tape. It keeps boxes securely sealed, it’s easy to tear by hand and you can write on it.

Instead of foam packing peanuts, try …

Wrap & Move Paper Packing Filler. Made of kraft paper, this straw-like substance is ideal for bulking out boxes, preventing possessions from crashing together. It can also be composted after the move is complete.
