Week 3: Britt and Taz

The room: Main ensuite

Score: 21.5/30 (fifth place)

“It feels calm and serene and really pretty,” says Darren Palmer, who was a big fan of the colours in this bathroom.

Modern bathroom with double round sinks, chrome faucets, mirrored cabinets, soft pink walls, and toiletries on the vanity.
A calming palette of neutrals in their bathroom helped create a tranquil atmosphere for Britt and Taz.

Seeking a serene, luxurious vibe, WA police offers Britt and Taz created two distinct areas in their bathroom – a wet area and a dry area – designing a large walk-in double shower area, plus a curved corner bench, separated from the oversized double vanity and toilet area by a double nib wall and fluted glass door.

This gave the shower area a feeling of both spaciousness and privacy, almost a haven tucked away from the rest of the house.

Spacious shower room with pink tiled walls, brown tiled floor, built-in bench, multiple showerheads, and natural light from a high window.

The colour palette the couple chose was muted and featured floor-to-ceiling tiles of soft browns, beiges and neutrals to create a tranquil spa-like atmosphere.

“It’s very peaceful and calm,” said Darren Palmer.

Darren was also a big fan of the amount of storage Britt and Taz included. “I really like the massive vanity,” he said. “It’s really nice to have that amount of space.” He also commended the amount of face-level storage in the mirrored cabinet above the vanity.

They also showed how much they have learned by including horizontal towel rails for extra practicality.

Design tip

Bathroom storage is important in any bathroom – make sure you include both face-level and under-sink options.
