Why you should choose Caroma for your bathroom renovation
The room: Main bedroom and walk in robe
Score: 20/30 (fifth/last place)
Judge Darren Palmer loved the walk-in robe. “It’s stunning. It’s like chocolate and vanilla mixed together,” he said.
WA couple Han and Can produced a bold main bedroom design, offset with a calm and elegant walk-in robe.
Bold and brave was the theme for WA couple Han and Can when they designed their main bedroom and walk-in robe. Following on from the success of their ensuite last week, they took inspiration from famed film director Wes Anderson with a controversial blue feature wall (Santiago Blue by British Paints) behind the bedhead in their bedroom, which was mirrored in the joinery in the room.
Taking inspiration from the work of local artist David Bromley, Han and Can designed a palette of striking blue and rich ochre, calling it an elevated version of the second kids bedroom they designed in Week 2. An occasional chair in a rust velvet created a cosy corner, while a bench seat provided a respite (and perhaps additional storage).
The couple continued their passion for curves – a curved bedhead was complemented by a custom-made circular skylight. The joinery, the bench seat and built-in fireplace, and the bedhead also featured fluted cladding, which added a mid-century aesthetic through the space.
The walk-in robe was a big hit with the judges, featuring luxurious chocolate joinery, with creamy vanilla marble handles.
Even if you are on a budget, try going all out with the fittings to add a sense of luxury. Think brushed brass, rich charcoals or even crystal handles for dramatic effect.
The colour that Han and Can used in their master bedroom was Santiago Blue by British Paints.
