Simply Seaweed is a dental supplement for dogs and cats. It is made from 100% Ascophyllum nodosum, a type of seaweed. This product is also a great nutritional supplement due to its abundance of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, antioxidants, and prebiotics. After being consumed by your pet, Ascophyllum nodosum works in several ways to improve dental hygiene through its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-adhesive properties. Existing plaque is softened, and new plaque is prevented from sticking to teeth.
The benefits of Simply Seaweed include dental maintenance, prevention of dental disease, reduction and removal of plaque, prevention of tartar (calculus), reduction or elimination of bad breath, and stain removal and whitening of teeth. The product contains 100% certified organic Ascophyllum nodosum with no fillers, preservatives, colorings, flavorings, or additives.
To give Simply Seaweed to your pet, simply sprinkle it on top of their meal or mix it in. If the food is cooked or heated, add Simply Seaweed afterward. The daily dosage guide is as follows: for cats and small dogs (up to 10 kg), give 1 to 2 pinches (1/16 to 1/8 teaspoon); for medium dogs (10–25 kg), give 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon; for large dogs (25–50 kg), give 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon; and for giant dogs (50 kg+), give 1/2 to 1 teaspoon. One teaspoon of Simply Seaweed is approximately 3 grams.
Simply Seaweed should not be given to animals with thyroid issues unless under veterinary supervision, nor to animals allergic or intolerant to seaweed, kelp, fish, shellfish, or seafood. It is not recommended for pregnant or nursing animals, animals under six months old, or in combination with other seaweed or kelp supplements. If you are unsure whether Simply Seaweed is suitable for your pet, consult your veterinarian.
Store Simply Seaweed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and use it within one year of opening. Most pets show improvement within a few weeks, though results may take up to 12 weeks depending on severity and dosage. While dogs usually accept the taste, cats can be fussy. If your pet is reluctant, you can reduce the dosage initially, gradually increase it, or mix it with lactose-free yogurt, chicken stock, gravy, margarine, or peanut butter. For cats, mixing with Brewer’s Yeast before adding to food can help.
Seaweed is naturally high in iodine, which affects the thyroid, so veterinary advice should be sought for pets with thyroid issues. Pets with severe fish or shellfish allergies or intolerance to seaweed should avoid Simply Seaweed. The product does not come with a measuring scoop; standard kitchen measuring spoons are recommended. Ascophyllum nodosum is harvested in Canada and Ireland and packed in Australia. Containers are food safe, tamper-evident, and recyclable.
