Key features directions (lake-specific) seachem cichlid lake salt 600g seachem cichlid lake salt 600g is a chemically sound mineral mix designed to replicate the natural environment of african rift lake cichlids. It supplies a complete spectrum of physiologically essential elements—magnesium, calcium, sodium and potassium—along with trace components such as iron, aluminium and iodide to support robust health, colour, and long-term vitality. Unlike many “rift lake salts” that are largely just epsom salt and bicarbonate, seachem formulates cichlid lake salt to better reflect the mineral salts found in the african lakes, particularly calcium and potassium. Because the major rift lakes have similar minerals but in different concentrations, dosing varies depending on whether you’re keeping tanganyika, malawi, or victoria species. This product is intended to be added primarily when setting up an aquarium and during water changes to restore minerals to new water. All doses are given per 40 l (10 us gallons). • replicates rift lake african cichlid mineral conditions with essential minerals + trace elements. • designed to raise mineral content/hardness (gh) to suit lake-specific requirements (dosage varies by lake). • does not include “harmful or unnecessary” ingredients like nitrates or phosphates (per product description). • for ph/kh control, seachem recommends using tanganyika buffer (ph 9.0–9.4) or malawi/victoria buffer (ph 7.8–8.4) as required. • tanganyika: 11 g (1.5 teaspoons). • malawi: 5.5 g (3/4 teaspoon). • victoria: 3.6 g (1/2 teaspoon).
