In pots, tubs and planter boxes

Use Native Potting & Planting Mix straight from the bag - don't mix it with other materials. Close the bag tightly after use
Water each plant well an hour or so before repotting, and leave to drain
Choose a clean container with large drainage holes and partly fill it with fresh mix out of the bag
Carefully knock the plant to be potted up from its existing pot without disturbing roots too much, removing only obviously damaged or dead roots
Place the plant in the centre of the pot (if potting up individually) or position it where you want it to grow in a larger container that will eventually hold several plants
Fill in with Native Potting & Planting Mix to within 2-3cm of the top rim of the pot and press lightly
Tap the new pot or container gently on the bench to help the new mix settle in and around the roots - do not pack it down
Water the pot thoroughly (until water runs from the drainage holes) then allow it to drain freely. If necessary, top the mix up again to the suggested level
Place the pot or container in the shade for a few days to allow the plant to settle and acclimatise before moving back to its permanent home

In the garden

Dig out each planting hole slightly deeper and about twice the width of the pot the plant is coming from
Work Native Potting and Planting Mix into the soil you have removed at the ratio of about 50:50 and place about 10cm or so in the base of the planting hole
Carefully knock the plant to be potted up from its existing pot without disturbing roots too much, removing only obviously damaged or dead roots
Position the plant so the soil will be at the same level on the stem as it was in the pot and backfill with blended soil and potting mix
Firm lightly and water well to settle the soil
Water newly planted natives at least once a week, or more often in very hot, dry weather
Australian native plants resent having their roots disturbed. When planting out or potting up, try to keep the root ball intact and don't 'tease' out the roots. Carefully break off the upper 'crust' of the potting mix and rake your fingers gently down the root mass to loosen the outer surface so roots will grow out into the new potting mix or garden soil.

Potting mixes can be used at any time of the year.
Repotting or planting out of established pot plants is best done either in Spring or Autumn - avoid Winter or Summer as the extremes of temperature may stress plants
Flowering plants should be repotted after they have flowered - enjoy the blooms first!

Don't use in hydroponic growing systems or ponds
Don't use on lawns - use only specifically named lawn topdress soils on grassed areas

CAUTION: This product may cause staining of hard surfaces if wet. Avoid contact with hard surfaces and if contact does occur, sweep off immediately
