Bunnings responds to workplace protection order laws passing through Victorian Parliament

We welcome the introduction of Workplace Protection Orders in Victoria from March 2027, marking another important step in strengthening protections for retail workers and the customers they serve across the state. This reform sends a clear message that violence, abuse and threatening behaviour have no place in retail environments.

The safety of our team, customers and suppliers is our number one priority. No one should experience violence or abuse while doing their job. The introduction of Workplace Protection Orders can help deter repeat offenders and provide greater reassurance for team members who deserve to feel safe at work.

While this is an important step forward, there remains more work to be done to address the very serious issue of retail crime and enhance safety across all jurisdictions in Australia and New Zealand. We remain committed to working with governments, industry and unions to strengthen protections for retail workers and create safer workplaces.
