A natural wool scent may also be noticeable when a new rug is first unpacked. This is a normal characteristic of wool and will generally fade over time as the rug is aired in a well ventilated space. Naturally dyed rugs may also exhibit variations in colour, shade and tone between individual pieces. These are normal characteristics of natural materials and dyes, with shedding generally reducing over time. Rotate your rug regularly, avoid prolonged direct sunlight, and use a vacuum without a powered or rotating brush head to help prevent excessive shedding or damage to the rug.
