A painted plant pot decorated with an Easter theme is filled with artificial flowers and a small bunny figure, sitting on a craft table in a bedroom setting.

Overview

Have an afternoon spare and want to do some Easter bunny craft with the kids? Together, you can transform a terracotta pot into a cheeky Easter display using paint, artificial flowers and foliage, plus a few craft supplies.

Tip: Always wear the appropriate safety equipment (safety glasses, gloves, ear muffs and a mask, for example) and always follow the instructions for the product or equipment.

Easter craft idea for kids: Bunny pot

Give a rascally rabbit their own pretty patch to play in – bottoms up!

Steps

1Start by painting the pot

Apply two coats of yellow paint to the outside of the pot; leave to dry after each coat. Use a brush to apply two coats of blue paint to the inside and outside of the pot rim, and a scallop design below the rim; leave to dry after each coat.
Hands wearing gloves paint a terracotta pot with light yellow and blue acrylic paint on a fabric-covered surface.

2Fill the pot with faux flowers

Use a serrated knife to cut florist’s foam into a cylinder to fit inside the pot. Insert faux foliage and flowers into the foam, trimming stems as needed. Ensure the arrangement has space at the front for the bunny, then insert it into the pot.
Hands wearing gloves apply craft glue to a small cut-out shaped like a bunny foot beside a floral arrangement.

3Glue and construct the Easter bunny

Glue a generous ball of cotton wool to the craft ball as a bunny tail; leave to set. Position in the pot. Draw two bunny foot shapes onto white card, cut out and paint paw pads in pink; leave to dry. Glue bunny feet to the bunny bottom; leave to set.
Hands wearing gloves insert artificial flowers into a block of floral foam, with pastel-coloured stems spread across a table.

4Keep in mind...

  • Supervise children at all times when using scissors or serrated knives.
  • Keep craft and food utensils separate.
  • Paint colours may vary on application.
