The brief: a modern Australian home designed by Australia

Before any walls were knocked down or a paint can opened, we asked Australians what they would like to see in a family-home renovation. Should we render or clad the exterior? Do the arches stay or go? What should the overall style of the home be? And much more. Here’s what you asked for:

Episode 1: Introducing the House Project

In a typical Australian suburb lies a typical Australian house that is stuck in a very particular time period. Enter the Bunnings Make It Happen team, who bring this house into the now and show that with a little D.I.Y., you can achieve a luxe transformation on a budget.

Episode 2: House facade and garden

It’s an unusual place to start, but Jono and Inge want to set the tone for the rest of the house, starting with the front facade. Removing an old-fashioned fence and creating a colour palette that reflects Australia's unique flora, this house front is unrecognisable.

Episode 3: Master bedroom and ensuite

The first interior space to get the magic touch is the master bedroom and ensuite. Jono makes clever use of space in the relatively small master bedroom including double arches, a skylight, a new wall colour and tiles and an adult retreat – this episode has it all.

Episode 5: Laundry renovation

The team tackles the laundry area. Not only is it beautiful, but the functionality is on point too. The team creates a space that has colour, texture and charm.

A laundry with a washing machine and dryer in it, with a bench on top of these, with some towels and a pot plant on it.

Episode 6: Bedroom, bathroom and study

The team give the main bathroom, smaller bedrooms and study some love. Working their magic to incorporate clever colours, easy D.I.Y. cabinetry and cupboard door refreshes, to bring new life to each of these areas.

Episode 7: Alfresco and backyard design and construction

Inge is in her element as she divides the huge outdoor space into three zones; produce and play, entertainment zone with alfresco and pizza oven, and a lawn area.

Episode 8: Living room, kids bedroom and hallway

The all-important living room and kids bedroom are the last, but certainly not the least, to get a stunning Bunnings makeover. Jono and Inge also give plenty of tips and tricks that you won’t want to miss.
