Give your pets the freedom to roam with pet doors from Hakuna Pets.

Pet doors provide your family pet with the choice of whether they prefer to be indoors or outdoors. But did you know that there are a variety of types of pet doors to choose from? We’re sharing this selection from Hakuna Pets so you can choose the size, shape and material that best suits your home and pet.

1. Essential pet door

This popular door is simple and straightforward, with a magnetic flap that is designed for larger pets but useable by both cats and dogs. It comes in two colours (black or white) and is available in three sizes – small, medium, and large. It can be installed into walls, doors, security screens and glass doors.

The door creates a weather-resistant seal, preventing wind and rain from entering your home, while the lockable security slide gives you peace of mind once everyone is tucked inside for the night (or if you’re away from home); the slide can also be used to control your pet’s access.

2. Patio pet door

The Patio Pet Door is one of Hakuna Pets’ best-sellers. It is easy to install (and doesn’t require any tools), and great for people who are renting or not ready to make permanent changes to their home. It comes in a simple, stylish black, suits both cats and dogs, and is suitable for most sliding door openings. It comes in three sizes (small, medium, and large), is durable and rust-resistant, featuring a fiberglass mesh insect screen.

3. Ultra-clear pet door

The ultra-clear pet door has a circular design that is ideal for cats, but is also suitable for small to medium-sized dogs. This weather-resistant door comes in two sizes (small and medium), featuring a magnetic catch and four-way locking system, allowing you to control your pet’s access.

4. Four-way locking cat flap pet door

Another pet door that is purr-fect for cats is the four-way locking cat flap. It can be installed into walls, doors, security screens and glass doors, and comes in two sizes – standard and large. It also features a magnetic catch and four-way locking system, which allows you to control your pet’s access, and is weather-resistant and durable.

5. Super tough pet door

If you have a large or boisterous pet (cat or dog), this is the pet door for you. Its durable construction is designed for frequent and heavy use and is suitable for larger-sized pets. It comes in two colours (black or white) and is available in three sizes – small, medium, and large. It can be installed into walls, doors, security screens and glass doors.

This door is also weather-resistant, with magnetic closure and lockable security clips for peace of mind and controlled access.

6. Deluxe aluminium pet door

For the pets that want the best, the deluxe aluminium pet door is Hakuna Pets’ top-of-the-range offering. It is primarily designed for dogs but can also be used by cats. It comes in two colours (black or white) and is available in four sizes – small, medium, large and extra-large. It can be installed into walls, doors, security screens and glass doors.

The deluxe door is durable, weather-resistant and long-lasting, with a flexible, magnetic flap and lockable security slide.

Health & Safety

Asbestos, lead-based paints and copper chromium arsenic (CCA) treated timber are health hazards you need to look out for when renovating older homes. These substances can easily be disturbed when renovating and exposure to them can cause a range of life-threatening diseases and conditions including cancer. For information on the dangers of asbestos, lead-based paint and CCA treated timber and tips for dealing with these materials contact your local council's Environmental Health Officer or visit our Health & Safety page.

When following our advice in our D.I.Y. videos, make sure you use all equipment, including PPE, safely by following the manufacturer’s instructions. Check that the equipment is suitable for the task and that PPE fits properly. If you are unsure, hire an expert to do the job or talk to a Bunnings Team Member.
