Make a style statement in your outdoor space with help from pot and plant experts Northcote Pottery.

The finishing touch

In a gorgeous garden scheme, outdoor pots are the icing on the cake, the essential accessories to take a garden ‘outfit’ from drab to fab. They’re also a fantastic opportunity to experiment with different colours, materials and trends, without overhauling the entire space. Not sure where to start? Container gardening experts Northcote Pottery deliver the latest trends in outdoor pots with stunning planters that are durable, practical and affordable.

Mediterranean moments

Add an international flavour to your garden with Northcote Pottery Holland planters. These terracotta pots have a high lustre glaze in the bright cobalt of the ocean on a perfect summer day. This saturated pop of colour brings a happy holiday vibe to any garden, from contemporary to cottage, but the Holland planters look particularly striking when contrasted with dry-loving natives and Mediterranean-style plants, such as rosemary, lavender and even your favourite citrus, to bring a vibrant new dimension of colour to a muted garden palette.

Coastal colour

Just like the ocean, the LA collection looks different in every light, with shifting tones of teal ranging from the shadowy depths of a rock pool to the bright blue-green waters of a sandy bay. Use the LA collection of planters to make an ocean-inspired statement anywhere in the garden – made from lightweight resin composite, the pots can be easily moved around the patio or garden. Use a single pot or bowl to create a cheery focal point or for maximum impact, group all four shapes together in one eye-catching vignette.

The layered look

When in doubt, monochrome is always the answer. The Precinct Lite range of moon and egg pots in black and white is an instant winner in any space – and the more of them the better! With a lightly textured terrazzo finish and elegantly rounded shape, their minimalist simplicity is the ideal marriage for a modern garden, but also gives crisp contrast in a wilder planting scheme.

Cluster varying sizes of pots in the same colour for an easy styling solution, mix black and white for a chic grouping, or add depth by pairing them with pots in complementary colours and textures.

Traditional terracotta

Terracotta pots are a never-fail garden staple. And Northcote Pottery would know – they’ve been handling them since 1897. Timeless terracotta pots look wonderful lined up along a windowsill or on a greenhouse shelf, grouped in varied sizes on the patio or singly on a side table.

Stick to the classic pot or experiment with different shapes, such as the low and wide Super Bloomer pot or a low bowl, both of which are ideally suited for use as a permanent centrepiece on your summer outdoor table.

Greek goddess

Take the classic terracotta pot and make it extra with a Grecian-inspired Pithari terracotta urn. This stately urn combines timeless and practical terracotta with a rustic design and a stately elegance, that makes it a standout feature anywhere you put it. Stunning even on its own, this regal planter looks even more striking when potted up with a tall tree – try an olive tree to continue the Mediterranean theme.

Note: Take care when selecting your plants as some can be poisonous to children and pets.
