Dremel tool being used to make a cut
The Dremel 4250 3-50 rotary tool is useful for any number of D.I.Y. and household tasks, from cleaning to cutting, polishing and sanding.

It sounds too good to be true: a single rotary tool that can be used to cut timber, polish cutlery, engrave fine jewellery and even trim your dog’s claws. But that’s the beauty of the Dremel 4250, a handheld rotary power tool that makes more household, D.I.Y. and hobby tasks possible, across a wide range of materials. Whether you’re renovating, sprucing things up around the house or enjoying spending time on a favoured hobby, Dremel 4250 3-50 Kit is the number-one toolkit every home needs. We took one for a spin and found out just how versatile it is.

Task master

As the most powerful tool in the Dremel shed, the 4250 has a 175W motor and an RPM range from 5,000 to 35,000, plus it’s compatible with all Dremel rotary-tool accessories. This versatility makes it ideal for more seasoned D.I.Y.ers while still being simple enough for beginners to master.

The Dremel 4250 3-50 Kit is a great place to start. It comes with 50 different accessories and 3 attachments, including the Line & Circle Cutter, Comfort Guard and the popular Flexshaft for finer work and hard-to-reach places. Here are just some of the ways you can use it.

Safety tip: Always wear the appropriate safety equipment (safety glasses, ear muffs and a mask, for example) and always follow the instructions for the product or equipment.

1. Removing rust with Dremel

Have your garden tools seen better days? Attach the 413 Sanding Disc with 240 grit to your Dremel 4250 and give them a spruce up. The finer grit easily removes rust from steel and other metals and it can be used on flat surfaces and edges alike. For heavier rust and corrosion, switch to the 442-02 Carbon Steel Brush, a 13mm wire brush that gives a thorough clean.

2. Buff and polish

Bring back the gleam on cabinet pulls, window hardware and other small metal objects with the 414 Felt Polishing Wheel. Add a dab of the 421 Polishing Compound to smooth out any imperfections and leave a smooth finish. Both can be found in the Dremel 110 Piece Multipurpose Mega Accessory Kit.

3. Furniture restoration

If you love breathing new life into old furniture, the 511E EZ Lock Finishing Abrasive Buff is the accessory you need. This versatile sanding buff effortlessly removes old paint and tarnish and gives a light sanding to wood, metal, glass and plastics. Find it in the Dremel 70 Piece EZ Lock Multipurpose Mega Accessory Kit.

4. Pruning trees

With the EZ544 EZ Lock Cutting Wheel, you can easily cut through wood, laminate and plastic. It’s indispensable for woodworking and equally handy for pruning small branches in the garden. It’s also part of the EZ Lock accessory kit.
