Designed exclusively for full-frame mirrorless cameras. One F Low Dispersion (FLD) element and four Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements reduce chromatic aberrations and colour fringing throughout the zoom range for improved clarity and colour accuracy. Stepping AF motor combined with an optimised AF algorithm for both phase-detection AF and contrast AF offers quick, smooth and quiet autofocus. Optical image stabilisation with up to four stops compensation for sharp handheld imagery. Minimum focusing distance of 112cm is available towards 100mm, and at the 400mm end, the lens can focus to 160cm with a maximum magnification of 1:4.1. Integrated AFL button can be programmed to adjust various shooting settings. Focus limiter switch for faster focusing performance within certain distance ranges. A zoom lock switch prevents the barrel from accidental extension when transporting the lens. Pleasing bokeh quality is assured by the use of a rounded 9-blade aperture diaphragm. The rugged brass lens-bayonet improves mounting accuracy and rigidity. Additionally, rubber sealing is incorporated in the mount's design to render the lens dust- and splash-resistant. Compatible with optional TS-111 Tripod Socket. Included PT-31 Protective Cover can be attached to the lens to maintain a seamless appearance if the optional tripod socket is not used.
