Bunnings has officially opened its newest distribution centre in North Maclean, Queensland, marking another milestone in the ongoing transformation of the retailer’s national supply chain network.
Spanning 40,000 square metres the new North Maclean Distribution Centre (DC) will operate as the secondary Queensland DC along with the Lytton site. The upgraded facility has been purpose‑built to streamline stock flow, improve safety and efficiency, and support the region’s growing customer demand.
The North Maclean DC, located about 40 kilometres south of the Brisbane CBD, will store full pallets, timber, bulk product and seasonal items, helping Bunnings meet customer expectations for availability, range and delivery options. The centre also reduces reliance on third‑party storage and consolidates transport activity across the broader network.
The opening builds on recent enhancements to Bunnings’ supply chain network, including the launch of the Wacol Trade and Fulfilment Centre, also in South East Queensland, in 2025. Together, these new facilities form part of a long‑term strategy to create a more integrated, efficient and future‑ready supply chain.
Bunnings Director of Supply Chain, Paul Hill, said the opening marks a significant step in ensuring a stronger and more efficient supply chain for the state.
“The opening of our new North Maclean DC will help simplify stock flow to our Queensland stores and support our planned growth in import volumes. Our local team reflects the community here, with many having joined from nearby locations, and we expect team numbers to grow as operations scale.
“This new site will ensure customers receive an even better experience, with a wider range of products available more consistently, and a stronger network to support delivery and fulfilment operations across the region.”
The site incorporates several sustainability initiatives, including rainwater harvesting, paper, cardboard and plastic recycling, motion‑sensor lighting and a single‑use pallet program that repurposes pallets into mulch. Solar panels will also be added in the coming months.
As part of the supply chain optimisation program, the new North Maclean DC replaces the former Crestmead Distribution Centre, with the team from the nearby location successfully transitioning to the new site. -END-
