Bunnings launches $1 million grants program to support grassroots groups across Australia & New Zealand.

Bunnings has launched its new Community Grants Program, committing $1 million across five years to support not-for profit organisations delivering meaningful local impact across Australia and New Zealand.

Opening for applications from 1 July 2026, the program will provide grants of up to $10,000 to eligible organisations backing practical community projects that make a real difference locally.

Designed to build on Bunnings' long-standing commitment to supporting local communities and industries, the Community Grants Program creates a clearer and more accessible pathway for community groups seeking project-based funding, while reinforcing the community initiatives already happening in stores every day.

Projects supported through the program could include community garden upgrades, improvements to local sporting club facilities, youth wellbeing spaces and regional community initiatives.

Bunnings Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Melissa O’Neill said backing local communities has always been part of who Bunnings is.

“We know there’s incredible work happening in communities every single day - particularly in regional areas - and we want to help more of these ideas come to life,” O’Neill said.

“Whether it’s upgrading a community space, supporting a local sporting club or helping create more welcoming places for people to connect, this program is about backing practical projects that make a real local difference.”

Bunnings Community Grants program will initially launch with a Small Community Grants stream focused on projects delivering immediate local benefit across Australia and New Zealand. Applications will be assessed by a dedicated Grants Advisory Group made up of Bunnings team members and leadership representatives, with funding awarded based on community need, project impact and feasibility.

The first funding round opens in July 2026, with a second round planned for January 2027.

In FY25 alone, Bunnings supported more than 77,000 community activities, helping raise and contribute more than $67 million for local communities. Bunnings has also supported industry through initiatives such as the Green Shoots Program, which since launching in 2025 has provided more than $350,000 in grants to 33 greenlife suppliers across four states.
