HardieDeck boards aren't fixed to joists by screwing or nailing through the boards. Instead they use a Fast-track fixing system made up for a Double Winged Base Jointer and a Snap-in Top Strip.
The Double Winged Base Jointer slots into the grooves on the long edges of the HardieDeck boards. Then it is screwed to each joist using 8-10 gauge 25mm long button or wafer head needle point screws. No pre-drilling is needed.
