A penetrating sealer that locks in timbers tannin and oils, preventing issues with discolouration and adhesion caused by natural oils leaching over time. Proofseal reduces the tendency for lighter coloured timbers to darken once they are top coated. It is ideal for sealing naturally oily timbers such as Spotted Gum, Brush Box and Tallowwood. Proofseal can be overcoated with Feast Watson Clear Varnish, WeatherProof Varnish, FloorProof Pro, FloorSeal Oil, FloorClear, Floor Paint, Liming White Floor Finish, Black Japan Floor Finish and Crackle Lacquer.
PREPARATION
New or Bare Timber
Sand to a smooth surface and remove all sanding dust before coating.
Previously Coated Timber
• Previously coated surfaces need to be sanded back to bare timber. Remove all sanding dust before coating.
APPLICATION
Stir PROOFSEAL thoroughly before and during use with a flat blade stirrer, taking care not to introduce bubbles.
• Apply a liberal coat using a brush or short nap roller. Ensure edges and end grain are fully coated.
• A second coat may be necessary for porous
timbers. Allow 20 minutes between coats.
• Wait 20 minutes before applying a top coat. • Do not apply in temperatures under 10°C
or above 35°C.
