PREPARATION
New Timber
How to prepare new timber:
Sand your timber back to a smooth surface. Remember to remove all dust before coating!
Although Fine Buffing Oil can be applied directly to raw timber, we recommend the timber to be sealed for the best results. This can be done with Feast Watson Proofseal.
Do you want that super-smooth finish? Or is the timber grain open or coarse? Just apply a coat of Feast Watson Sanding Sealer and sand back as per the directions.
Previously Coated Timber
How to prepare previously coated timber:
Ensure your surface is clean with Feast Watson Floor clean and allow to dry.
APPLICATION
Ensure your surface is completely dry and free from all dirt, dust, grease, wax and oil.
Using a nylon scouring pad or fine steel wool (000), apply Fine Buffing Oil.
Apply in the direction of the grain.
Note: For soft timbers such as pine, apply using a soft cloth.
Allow Fine Buffing Oil to penetrate 10 - 20 minutes, and go make yourself a coffee! When you come back, check if the surface is tacky. If so, wipe vigorously with a coarse cloth.
Leave for approximately 5 hours then buff surface with a soft clean cloth.
If you are looking for a more increased level of sheen or glow, repeat the process by using a soft cloth to apply the Fine Buffing Oil.
MAINTENANCE
How do I keep my timber looking its best?
Always keep an eye on your timber.
If you feel it needs a rejuvenation, wash with sugar soap and water, or Mineral Turpentine and a scouring pad, then reapply Fine Buffing Oil as outlined in the application directions.
