Fast aid kit next to a car ready to use if needed
It’s a legal requirement for employers to equip all work vehicles with a first aid kit. Here’s what you need to know.

As per the July 2019 WHS Code of Practice, it’s a legal requirement for all work vehicles –whether it's a fleet of company cars or a single vehicle – to be equipped with a portable first aid kit. This is essential to meet workplace health and safety regulations.

Legal requirements for work vehicles

The Code of Practice specifies that a portable first aid kit must be provided in vehicles used by mobile workers, such as couriers, taxi drivers, sales reps, bus drivers and inspectors. It’s also worth noting that the definition of ‘workplace’ in the WHS Code includes any location where work is carried out for a business – this covers everything from vehicles and ships to aircraft and other mobile structures, both on land and water.

To stay compliant with these regulations, it’s important for employers and business owners to ensure their vehicles are equipped with the right first aid kits to meet the needs of their workers on the move.

These substances can easily be disturbed when renovating and exposure to them can cause a range of life-threatening diseases and conditions including cancer.
