/The benefits of home insulation during winter are well known. However, did you know that properly installed insulation can help to lower and maintain your home’s interior temperature during the summer months, as well?
In hot weather, insulation does a great job of both preventing heat entering the home and keeping cooler air inside. In addition, insulation helps reduce energy costs and is more cost-effective than running an air-conditioner. Insulation also reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
Earthwool® insulation will help you improve the thermal comfort and energy efficiency of your home.
Earthwool®’s range includes ceiling batts, which you can use to insulate your loft space, as trapping air movement helps to maintain a more comfortable temperature inside your home. Earthwool® batts can also be used as a top-up layer to improve energy efficiency in the ceiling. Between 25 and 35 percent of summer heat gains (and winter heat losses) can occur via the ceiling*, so this is a task that will pay dividends in improving the comfort of your home year-round and reducing energy bills.
Tip: A smooth finish on both sides of the insulation makes it soft to handle.
Check out the installation videos and factsheets on earthwool.com.au for full D.I.Y. instructions and safety information and start planning!

Asbestos, lead-based paints and copper chromium arsenic (CCA) treated timber are health hazards you need to look out for when renovating older homes. These substances can easily be disturbed when renovating and exposure to them can cause a range of life-threatening diseases and conditions including cancer. For information on the dangers of asbestos, lead-based paint and CCA treated timber and tips for dealing with these materials contact your local council's Environmental Health Officer or visit our Health & Safety page.
When following our advice in our D.I.Y. videos, make sure you use all equipment, including PPE, safely by following the manufacturer’s instructions. Check that the equipment is suitable for the task and that PPE fits properly. If you are unsure, hire an expert to do the job or talk to a Bunnings Team Member.
