Trying to heat an under-insulated home is always going to be an uphill battle. Upgrading your insulation, however, will make a huge difference. Not only will your home feel warmer, but you’ll cut your energy bills in the process.
One of the best ways to keep your energy bills low is with insulation. That way, your heating systems aren’t fighting a losing battle with the outside elements. Earthwool® insulation does this by forming a thermal barrier in your ceilings, walls and underfloor, which blocks cold air from entering, stops heat escaping and keeps your home’s internal temperature at an optimum level.
Earthwool® insulation products are designed for ceilings, walls and under the floor – each type is clearly labelled and colour-coded. All of them wrap your home in comfort, as well as providing exceptional acoustic performance. Once you know which area you’re tackling, the next step is choosing the R-value. This is the measure of thermal resistance – essentially, how effectively it will keep warmth where you want it. The higher the R-value, the better your insulation will perform.
Earthwool® insulation is lightweight and easy to handle, making installation a D.I.Y. job. Earthwool’s revolutionary ECOSE® Technology results in a soft insulation product that’s less itchy or dusty, and formaldehyde-free. For even easier installation, look to Earthwool® multi-use rolls. These 19-metre rolls are compact and easier to transport, making them ideal for topping up existing ceiling insulation.
Tip: Check out Earthwool’s D.I.Y. instructions and videos for advice on installation.

Asbestos, lead-based paints and copper chromium arsenic (CCA) treated timber are health hazards you need to look out for when renovating older homes. These substances can easily be disturbed when renovating and exposure to them can cause a range of life-threatening diseases and conditions including cancer. For information on the dangers of asbestos, lead-based paint and CCA treated timber and tips for dealing with these materials contact your local council's Environmental Health Officer or visit our Health & Safety page.
When following our advice in our D.I.Y. videos, make sure you use all equipment, including PPE, safely by following the manufacturer’s instructions. Check that the equipment is suitable for the task and that PPE fits properly. If you are unsure, hire an expert to do the job or talk to a Bunnings Team Member.
