A modern house with cladding and a white exterior.
Create the look of luxury for your home with timber-look decking, fencing, screens and cladding that last a lifetime, and are maintenance-free.

If your Pinterest board is packed with timber decking, the occasional pool fence and external cladding, but you aren’t as enamoured by the upkeep that goes along with the finish, timber-look aluminium products from Deco could be the perfect solution. Durable, stylish and low maintenance, these aluminium boards are made to withstand the elements, so you can spend more of your time enjoying your outdoor space. Here are some design tips to help you bring high-end contemporary design to your home.

Create fencing and privacy screens with DecoBatten

Create a unique, attractive feature to surround and accent different areas of your home with DECO’s fencing and screening product, DecoBatten®. Made from aluminium, it’s a dimensionally stable product that will never warp, twist or crack. This means it’s easy to work with, and suitable as a D.I.Y. project. All you’ll need is a fine-toothed metal saw blade to cut pieces to length. The DecoBattens are light, especially when compared to hardwood battens, so D.I.Y-ing can be done by a single person with basic construction skills.

DecoBatten design tip

Narrow upright battens can fashion a luxurious-looking accent wall behind an outdoor shower, or form a unique screen over front-facing windows and balconies, maintaining your family’s privacy with an interesting design feature.

Use DecoDeck to build decking and paths

One of the easiest ways to add a touch of luxury to your backyard is with a stylish deck or garden path. Designed and made in Australia to suit Australian conditions, DecoDeck® boards look like real timber but are actually hollow lengths of aluminium, finished with a highly durable powder coating. This re-creates the beauty of a variety of timber species, with the benefit of never needing to be sealed, stained or painted like other decking materials. The tough coating and sturdy construction outlast timber, all while blending beautifully into the landscape.

With narrow and wide boards, both available in 6.5m lengths, it’s easy to achieve a seamless look for your deck or balcony. The hollow boards connect neatly between joists using the smart DecoDeck joiner, reducing waste and making your project more economical and eco-friendly.

DecoDeck design tip

DecoDeck is a great option for pool surrounds. DecoDeck aluminium boards stay cool underfoot, even on the hottest summer days, thanks to aluminium’s thermal properties. Plus, with a non-slip coating, they’re comfortable as well as safe to walk on, even when wet.

Use DecoDeck to create a walkway between different areas of your yard, connecting spaces like a deck and a fire pit while adding an attractive element.

Clad your house, ceilings and more with DecoClad

Timber cladding gives a wonderfully soft, warm look to any exterior, but it does have downsides. Along with ongoing maintenance – sanding, oiling and so on – it can also pose a risk in bushfire-prone areas. Using DecoClad® gives you the look of timber to add interest and create a contemporary style for the exterior of your home, but the material is completely non-combustible and can be used in bushfire zones up to BAL FZ, to help keep your home safer.

Like other DECO products, DecoClad is made to withstand the extremities of the Australian climate, to keep your home looking fantastic for the long term, without any extra effort required.

DecoClad design tip

A number of styles are available in DecoClad, from V-groove and traditional weatherboards, to more contemporary shadowline features. Use cladding horizontally to bring points of interest into outdoor kitchens, or vertically to enliven gable ends. You can also line ceilings and soffits – the underside of your eaves – with cladding to suit your style, allowing you to achieve the design feature you’ve been dreaming of.

Safety tip: Always wear the appropriate safety equipment (eye protection and mask) and follow the instructions for the product.
