Hand potting plant in terracotta pot
Mechanix Wear gloves protect your hands while gardening and tackling D.I.Y. projects.

A hands-on summer

For those who love to muck in and get things done, there’s no better feeling than tackling projects around the backyard. As any weekend warrior knows, sometimes those projects are tough and dirty jobs. Whether you’re repotting plants, pruning a prized hedge or finally building that retaining wall, protect your best D.I.Y. assets – your hands – without hindering your movement.

Comfort and protection

Mechanix Wear Leather Rigger Gloves are versatile and tough. They’re full Durahide™ leather, which is eight times more durable than untreated leather. But being tough doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice comfort: these breathable gloves need no break-in time, so you can get straight to work in gloves that already feel like old favourites. The stretch-elastic cuff makes them easy to take on and off during jobs, and they’re certified to Australian standards.

Fits like a glove

There’s a Mechanix Wear glove to fit most hands. The Slimfit design, in sizes small to large, improves control and dexterity, making them ideal for fragile planting jobs. And when you’re done for the day, the gloves can go straight into the washing machine, ready for your next D.I.Y. project.

Some products are not available at all Bunnings stores, but may be ordered.

Health & Safety

Asbestos, lead-based paints and copper chromium arsenic (CCA) treated timber are health hazards you need to look out for when renovating older homes. These substances can easily be disturbed when renovating and exposure to them can cause a range of life-threatening diseases and conditions including cancer. For information on the dangers of asbestos, lead-based paint and CCA treated timber and tips for dealing with these materials contact your local council's Environmental Health Officer or visit our Health & Safety page.

When following our advice in our D.I.Y. videos, make sure you use all equipment, including PPE, safely by following the manufacturer’s instructions. Check that the equipment is suitable for the task and that PPE fits properly. If you are unsure, hire an expert to do the job or talk to a Bunnings Team Member.
