Legend of the Tongs

Bunnings’ Legend of the Tongs is a nationwide search to find, recognise, and reward the local community legends who fire up the BBQ every weekend, serving up snags in bread to raise much-needed funds for their clubs.

This AFL season, Bunnings has rewarded 90 local footy legends from across the country with legendary prizes including a new BBQ prize pack for their clubs.

We know these legends are the lifeblood of community footy and we thank all the volunteers nominated for their continued service and dedication to their local footy clubs.

Meet the finalists

They’ve grilled through rain, hail and sunshine – and now eight BBQ legends have been named finalists of the Legend of the Tongs. Congrats Legends!

Michael Albert - Cable Beach FC

Robert Honan - Jamestown Peterborough FC

Straun Bremish - Wilston Grange AFC

Snag Hags - Kellie Pitt & Jenette - Mornington FNC

Cliff Anderson - Diamond Valley Super Rules

Karen Green - Batemans Bay Seahawks

Matthew Bellchambers - Malvern Districts Auskick

Mick Neyenhuis - Ocean Grove FNC

Selected from over 700 nominations across the 2026 AFL season, these footy club volunteers have earned a trip to the AFL Footy Festival and Toyota AFL Grand Final 2026, where they’ll cook their signature snag for BBQ royalty, including our ambassador, Matthew Richardson.

One will be crowned the Legend of the Golden Tongs and take home $25,000 in Bunnings products and materials for their club, but every finalist is already a hero in their community.

Winner announced Friday, 25 September 2026.
