Ranex Rustbuster Gel: Powerful rust removal and prevention. Penetrates deep, eliminates rust chemically, and protects against future corrosion. Its unique gel formulation allows for extended contact time, ensuring deep penetration and complete rust elimination. Ranex Rustbuster Gel chemically converts rust into iron phosphate which creates a protective layer that inhibits future rust formation. This makes it ideal for preparing surfaces for priming and painting. Suitable for rusted steel, wrought iron and other ferrous metals. Important Note: Wear Gloves and any other suitable protective clothing. Always test on a small inconspicuous area before full application. Refer to the safety directions for proper usage. Preparation: Surface Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the rusted surface to ensure optimal contact with the Ranex Rustbuster Gel. Remove all loose scale, oil, grease, and paint using a wire brush. For stubborn contaminants, consider using a suitable degreaser before wire brushing. The goal is to create a clean, rust-exposed surface. Protect Surroundings: Carefully mask or cover any areas you want to protect from contact with the gel. This includes, but isn't limited to: painted surfaces, Colorbond®, marble, galvanised metals, and any other sensitive materials. Use painter's tape and drop cloths to effectively protect these areas. Coverage: 250ml covers up to 1-2sqm – surface and rust dependent Rust Conversion: Apply Ranex Rustbuster Gel only to rusted areas. Coverage is dependent on severity of rust. Surface should appear dark and wet, for heavy rust apply a thick gel layer. Avoid applying it to non-rusted areas or paintwork. Use a brush or applicator to ensure even coverage. Immediately wipe off any excess gel that spills onto surrounding paintwork or non-rusted areas using a damp cloth. Quick action is crucial to prevent damage to these areas. Allow the Ranex Rustbuster Gel to work its magic. – Do not wipe off or wash away while the Ranex Gel is working. The required working time for rust conversion will vary depending on the severity of the rust. For most applications, allow 1-4 hours. Heavily rusted areas may require longer working time or multiple applications. Allow the first treatment 4 hours before re-treating. Once the rust conversion is complete (the treated area will appear darker, apply an oil-based primer. Zinc-rich or water-based primers are not compatible with Ranex Rustbuster Gel and should not be used. Leave to dry, if residue remains wipe with a damp cloth, then dry with a cloth.
