Camellia Volunteer was bred in New Zealand by Mark Jury, and named to honour volunteers everywhere. Fat pink buds open from May to September to reveal deep pink ruffled flowers with white edges. The flowers change in intensity through the season from pink to dark pink-red and white with the occasional all pink-red flower.
Camellia Volunteer grows into a tall shrub or small tree two metres high. The foliage is a glossy dark green and the flowers are produced from May to September.
Grows well in full sun, particularly if well-watered, however will perform best in partial shade. Some burning may occur in full sun in extreme high Summer temperatures. Tolerates cold in all areas. Grows in temperate to sub-tropical areas.
