- Thriving in heavy shade I am a most reliable indoor plant and thrive in dry shade where other plants struggle
- I produce inconspicuous flowers at the base of the leaves in late spring and summer
- Great in pots or planted out, my arching deep green foliage makes a great focal element
- Drought hardy I can cope with very long periods between waterings
I am known as the 'Cast Iron Plant' due to my hardy and almost indestructible nature.
I grow as long stemmed deep green leaves from a creeping rhizome.
I have small inconspicuous cream to dark purple flowers in spring/summer.
Shade loving, I am possibly the toughest indoor plant looking great in even the heaviest shade and thriving on neglect.
In the garden I am useful in borders and understory plantings. I am very low maintenance.
