The Ctenanthe burle marxii are an evergreen perennial, native to Central and South America (primarily Brazil) and these species are commonly called just Burle Marxii after the discoverer. They are grown for their attractive foliage. The Burle Marxii have elongated, rectangular shaped leaves with a striking herringbone pattern on the top side of the leaf and a beautiful purple on the underside.
