I am a native hardy small growing iris with prolific 3 petaled, mostly blue to purple blooms. My flowers are on long stems which hold them above my fine strappy foliage.
I am a hardy tuft-forming perennial due to my rhizomatous root system. I tolerate both frost and dry conditions.
Each bloom lasts only a day but are produced in such profusion that I create a stunning visual effect particularly when mass planted.
As a very easy to care for plant I work well in borders, to add textural accents to the garden and in pots.
My flowers attract bees, butterflies and beneficial insects.
