- Perfect for hanging baskets
- Cascading growth habit
- Drought tolerant
Opal necklace is an attractive trailing succulent with slender, bean-shaped leaves. Foliage displays shades of green, cream, pink and purple, especially in bright light. Purple stems create a colourful cascading effect, making it ideal for hanging baskets. Produces small yellow daisy-like flowers, mainly in cooler months.
Growing conditions include full sun to part shade and prefers warm, frost-free conditions. Allow soil to dry between waterings. Water more often in summer, sparingly in winter. Height can get to 15 cm with a spread/cascade of up to 60 cm or more. Care tips include avoid overwatering to prevent root rot and feed with a diluted liquid fertiliser during spring and summer. Trim long stems to encourage bushier growth and protect from heavy frosts. Ideal as a hanging basket but also in pots and containers, rockeries and succulent gardens.
