- Very easy to grow
- Stores better than most onion
- Ideal for the home gardener
- Multiplies strongly
From the family allium shared with garlic, shallots, onions, etc. The Potato Onion does not grow to a large diameter - 7cm about the biggest down to 3cm the smallest. We refer to them as clumping onions as they multiply into a clump (One bulb producing 5-10 new) like other true bulbs such as Daffodils. Keep the largest potatoes onions for eating and replant the smaller ones.
