Merbau is an extremely durable, long lasting, tannin rich hardwood. It has a consistent yellow-brown colour and is easy to work with in terms of clean cutting and easy fastening.

SpecRite Merbau 2.25m Finger Joined Decking is made from multiple select grade, kiln dried boards, joined together with robust face joints using weather resistant A-Bond glue.

Primed with Feast Watson® Industrial Timber Oil to help protect the timber from moisture and UV, and lock in its natural beauty, SpecRite's pre-oiled decking is ready for finishing on-site with your preferred top coating product.

Requires regular re-oiling to maintain colour and appearance and prolong lifespan. To maintain the look of your merbau, finish and maintain with Feast Watson Traditional Timber Oil. For a longer lasting finish try Intergrain Ultradeck Timber Oil. Timber will go grey if left unfinished.

Installation

TANNIN WARNING
Merbau’s superior strength and stability are attributable to its tannin-rich properties, resulting in low shrinkage and minimal surface and end splitting. Tannin is a naturally occurring substance in timber which will leach the first few times it is exposed to moisture, staining timber, paved areas and other nearby surfaces. Objects left on the timber surface will also draw tannin out, creating surface marks. A thorough and regular hose down during the first few days will assist in flushing excess tannin away and minimise subsequent staining.
