Before installing, ensure sufficient climatisation at the place of installation. When installing, have sufficient space left to allow the wood to expand to prevent deformation from humidity or other environmental changes. Seal all sides of the board with appropriate treatment - oil, wax or lacquer before use.

TANNIN WARNING
Merbau’s superior strength and stability are attributable to its tannin-rich properties. Tannin is a naturally occurring substance in timber which will leach when exposed to moisture. It will stain timber, tiled areas and other surfaces. Objects left on the timber surface will also draw out tannin creating surface marks. To minimise tannin bleed we recommend sealing all sides of the timber components with an appropriate treatment - oil, wax, lacquer or paint before use.

If using this product outdoors, or in an environment where it is likely to be exposed to moisture, a thorough and regular hose down during the first few days will assist in flushing excess tannin away and minimise subsequent staining.
