  • Keyed alike across the Remsafe range
  • Easy DIY installation
  • Tested in Australia to comply with safety requirements under Australian legislation
  • The only winder with a child resistant release mechanism allowing the window to be opened to its full extent if required
  • Australian owned and designed
Remsafe Window Lock’s innovative window winder includes a convenient, key-operated restrictor mechanism on the upper surface of the winder body. This unique feature distinguishes the Remsafe winder from other products available by allowing a resident to alternate quickly and easily between the restricted window opening distance and the fully opened distance depending on their individual circumstances.

Once locked in the restricted position the chain may be wound between the closed position and an opening distance of 12.5 cm without the use of a key each and every time. The safety lock is not able to lock the window in the closed position.

When it is safe to do so, the restrictor mechanism may also be unlocked with a key to allow the winder to be fully extended and the window opened beyond the restricted position.

1. Place the Remsafe Window Winder in the desired position on the window frame. Drill 3 mm pilot holes through the fixing holes on the winder body then secure the winder using the 5 cm screws provided. For best results the winder should be positioned so the chain is centered on the opening window frame.

2. Hold the chain bracket in position on the opening window frame and mark the screw holes with a pencil. Ensure the chain is level relative to the winder body.

3. Drill a 3 mm pilot hole for the chain bracket fixing holes. Screw the chain bracket in place using timber gauge screws or metal gauge screws depending on the window frame material.

4. Check operation of the window winder by using the handle to wind open and closed. If the handle is difficult to turn adjust the alignment of the chain bracket.

5. Test lock function by locking and unlocking with the key. The key must be used to lock the winder in the restricted position. Ensure the restricted opening distance does not exceed 12.5cm.

The Remsafe Window Winder is not appropriate for installation in windy environments.

To lock the Remsafe Window Winder in the restricted position turn the key in an anti-clockwise direction until the key way is in a vertical position. This will enable the window to be opened and closed to the restricted opening distance of 12.5 cm. The key must not be left unattended in the lock. The restrictor mechanism will not engage when the key is in the lock. The safety device will not lock in the fully closed position.

When the winder is in the open restricted position pressure on the key barrel may result in the key being difficult to insert and/or turn. Release pressure on the key barrel by turning the handle one rotation in a clockwise direction and then insert key to unlock and open the winder to its full extent.

To unlock the restrictor mechanism turn the key in a clockwise direction until the key way is in a horizontal position. In this position, the window is unrestricted and may be opened to its full extent.

The restrictor mechanism cannot be rotated once the chain has been extended beyond 12.5 cm. Retract the chain to less than 12.5 cm before locking the winder in the restricted position.
