The stunning spikes of Kinphofia Winter Cheer emerge through the dead of winter, lasting for months on end. Serious bird attracters, the Kniphofia offer brilliant, bright colour when not much else is in colour. When planting, prepare your ground to a depth of 25cm, adding some well composted manure and high quality garden soils. Plant the rhizome to a depth of 5cm, leaving any foliage development free to the light. Winter dormant, Kniphofia can be harvested and spread around. Give your bulb a few years to establish before shifting. You will need a sharp shovel and knife to aid in seperation.
