HardieDeck boards are fixed to joists using the Double Winged Base Jointer and needle tip screws. Then the boards are coated in clear sealer, timber stain or paving paint and left to cure as per the coating manufacturer's instructions. Then, the very last step is to install the Snap-in Top Strips to conceal the screws and give HardieDeck a clean and crisp contemporary finish. The easiest way to install them, once they're cut to a length that matches the base jointer, is to position them and push them into them lightly into the Double Winged Base Jointer. When the position is correct use a drift and lightly tap them into the Double Winged Base Jointer for a secure fit. A 10mm packer or Snap-in top strip off-cut turned upside down makes a good drift. The Snap-in Top Strip should sit below the level of the boards when tapped correctly into position.
